  2. DOD FF&V • Oranges arrived this week and completed our SY 11-12 DOD purchases • Will set aside $2M again for SY 12-13 • Try to get as much local product as possible • $600K this year. Could have been $1M • Remember to submit your order as soon as an item is posted to the Form 12

  3. FORM 11’s AND 12’s • Form 11 for SY 11-12 is complete. • Form 12 is complete (all items have arrived) except for one load of tomato sauce at WF which is expected shortly. • Check your Form 12’s and your warehouse provided expiration reports to be sure that you have arranged to have all commodities delivered before the end of school. • Form 12 prices updated and finalized monthly. • Next year’s 11’s should be available in July.

  4. BLACKEYE PEAS • Originally requested for delivery in December and February • Canner problems have delayed delivery until July. Your Form 11 shows 7/15/2012 and 7/31/2012

  5. YEAR END CLOSEOUT OF COMMODITIES FOR SY 2011-2012 Use your commodities before the school year ends. Even though it’s acceptable, there should be no need this year to store commodities over the summer at your distributor’s warehouse. If you intend to leave commodities with your distributor, you must provide your distributor with a Commodity Hold Form and your Form 13’s for those items before the end of school. If not, your food will become part of the EOY inventory that we transfer to someone else.

  6. SHORTAGE FROM THE WAREHOUSE FORM • Verify the shortage with the warehouse. • Provide a copy to the warehouse and to us. • Let us know if you receive the commodity after you’ve submitted the form. • Shortage forms used to determine who gets EOY warehouse audit inventories.

  7. DAMAGES • May refuse damaged commodities at the time of delivery • If hidden damage is found later it’s your responsibility to dispose of the damaged commodity • Warehouse is not required to pick up damaged commodities • Damaged commodities will not be replaced • Better to salvage what you can

  8. DONATED FOOD and DISTRIBUTOR COMPLAINTS • Two separate forms used for two separate purposes. • USDA Donated Food Complaint • Warehouse Complaint • A donated food complaint requires all available identifying information • Both forms are on our web site

  9. CANCELLATIONS • Cancellations are posted on the CNP web site under Food Distribution at the bottom of the Commodity News. • Cancelled items are dropped from the Form 11. Check the web site instead of relying on an old printed Form 11.

DELIVERY PRICE INCREASES • The CPI rose 3.2% during 2011. • Both distributors requested and were granted price increases. • The 3.2% increase means that the weekly delivery prices will go up by $0.06 or $0.07 per case. • Pick-up prices and extra storage charges will increase accordingly. • New prices will be effective June 1, 2012. • New prices will be shown in the FDP Update you’ll receive this summer.

SUMMER FEEDING VENDORS • SLICED CHEESE WILL ARRIVE AT WOOD-FRUITTICHER DURING THE FIRST HALF OF MAY. • WE WILL NOTIFY THE SPONSOR OF ARRIVAL. • IF WE KNOW YOU ARE A VENDOR WE’LL ALSO NOTIFY YOU. • COORDINATE CHEESE PICK-UP WITH YOUR SPONSOR. • PICK-UP CHEESE BY JUNE 30. • PICK-UP PRICE BEFORE JUNE 1 - $1.02. ON OR AFTER JUNE 1 - $1.05.

LEAN FINELY TEXTURED BEEF Facts • This is NOT a safety issue • FDA approved for over 25 years • LFTB is 100% beef • USDA does not purchase LFTB • Current specs allow LFTB – 10% - 15% • Some processers use it, others don’t • Not required to be listed on the label • Your USDA ground beef MIGHT contain LFTB

  16. LEAN FINELY TEXTURED BEEF Facts • Commodity and commercial beef standards are the same • The ground beef you feed your family MIGHT have LFTB • 150,000,000 pounds bought – estimates are that 6.5% contained LFTB • We received < 1.6% of the total ground beef purchased this year

  17. WHAT NEXT? • SY 11-12 contracts through 6/30/12 still allow LFTB • All of our ground beef for SY 11-12 has arrived • Revised USDA specs for purchases after 7/1/12 • LFTB will be optional • Our SY 12-13 ground beef and patties will NOT contain LFTB • Price per pound of beef will increase
