  2. 802.21 WG Status Update • Base Specification • Published in Jan 2009. • Security TG (802.21a) • Call for Proposals issued in March-2009 • Proposals discussed in Nov along with document structure • Handovers with Broadcast Services TG (802.21b) • Call for Proposals issued in July-2009 • Two proposals discussed in Nov • Single Radio Handovers • PAR approved by 802Ec and up for approval at Dec-2009 NesCom meeting. • Other Presentations • Discussions on Management of Heterogeneous Wireless Networks • Study Group created • Future Interim location • 802.21 would be co-locating with 802.16 WG for all interims starting with Jan-2010. Jan-2010 interim at San Diego.

  3. 802.21a Security TG • Revised TG Timeline • Continue harmonization discussion in January 2009 • Down-selection in March 2010 • Document structure discussion • Produced tentative structure (21-09-0179-01) • Discussed open issues (21-09-0169 & 21-09-0185) • Use of TLS for MIH-level security needs more input • There were comments that Work Item #1 architecture/solution should generally be applicable to different authentication protocols • Protection by MIH transport layer vs. protection within MIH protocol is still open • Key distribution & MIA/MSA discussions • The architecture is understood except that clarification on what EAP lower-layer for MIA is needed and whether pull key does not require any change to existing link-layer standards and implementations • A deployment concern is expressed on media-independent authenticator

  4. 802.21b Broadcast Handovers TG • Progress • Call for proposals issued in July • Two proposals received in November’s meeting • Hongseok Jeon (ETRI) • Catherine Livet (InterDigital) • Next Steps • Proposals to be revised and presented again in January based on feedback received • Proposals require detailed text for January’s meeting
