  1. Lindenwood Ministries • Lindenwood TM Men’s Home 179482 Grey Rd. 17 Georgian Bluffs Mailing Address: 857-3rd Street “A” East Owen Sound, ON N4K 6E3

  2. Background Lindenwood Ministries Inc. is the new name of the charity that formerly was known as “My Father’s Ministries” that was founded in 1999. The 9 Members on our Board of Directors come from congregations all across Grey-Bruce:- in Owen Sound, Shallow Lake, Sauble Beach, Wiarton, Hanover, Durham

  3. The Need For Lindenwood • Lindenwood is a Transition Home for Men 18 to 30 Years Old that bridges the gap between Crisis Care and Independent Living. They come by Choice seeking our help with relationship and vocational issues. The one year program has a strong emphasis on living by Christian Principles. • Lindenwood is a governed by its Board of Directors who subscribe to Evangelical Fellowship of Canada’s Statement of Faith.

  4. Our Program • We will be offering a Christ centred program for young men (18 to 30) who are seeking special help to deal with their emotional, spiritual, relationship, addictions recovery and vocational challenges. • Our program will be based on proven ones used at other homes like His Mansion Ministries (since 1985) and the Care Force

  5. Quick background:- Brian the Visionary • Brian Costello, a founding member of Trinity Christian Church in Owen Sound, and owner of an auto shop wanted to do more than just fix cars! He believed that one’s church should be a place where they could make a real difference in this world by putting their God-given talents to work for the betterment of humanity. • In 1990 he gathered a group of men and they came up with the vision to build a Christ centred home to help young adults. Brian’s vision was that the residents should not only be helped spiritually, but they would also learn real life-skills to enable them to function as productive members of society.

  6. Brian (the Visionary) & Shirley (his Administrator) • In 1998 Brian and his wife Shirley started to work together on fulfilling his original vision. After spending time studying the programs being offered at other places, they decided on the following design for a home.

  7. Finding the Site • In 1999, Brian & Shirley brought together interested parties from several churches and formed a Board Of Directors for My Father’s Ministries. They then arranged for the purchase an 80 acre rural property which was heavily wooded. • From August 1999 till August 2000 they worked to develop brochures, detailed program descriptions, and to resolve zoning concerns that were raised. An OMB ruling specified the facility could have 6 residents living there.

  8. Building Permit, and architect’s drawings • (2003) Pastor David Campbell (President) holdingbuilding permit and architect’s drawings, with Brian and Shirley Costello

  9. Temp for comments

  10. Then, just as excitement ramped up and construction began, Brian was diagnosed with cancer. Within months he died. He only saw the site preparation work but not things like these footings being poured in the Spring of 2004

  11. While at first it seemed like the dream had died with Brian; amazingly, it didn’t. Shirley now assumed the leadership role, and kept supporters informed about our needs. The funding kept coming in. Little by little and step by step we were able to begin building the home. • The next few slides from 2004 show the foundation wallsgoing in.

  12. Foundation walls get poured

  15. 2006 accomplishments • November 2006, the front porch& siding are installed sealing up house from the weather

  16. Another Tragedy followed by a Miracle At this time, Shirley too becomes ill and soon she passes away in early 2007. Everything then came to a halt for 2007 and most of 2008. In November 2008 the wider church community was approached to see if there were any folk who were interested in seeing Brian’s vision through to completion. This is when the next miracle happened. People from churches all over Grey-Bruce came forward and offered to help transform the bare bones interior into finished rooms.
