  1. Hart County Cadet Winterguard 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade

  2. What is it? • Pageantry of visual arts through flag equipment work and dance • Music portrayed visually through body and equipment work on a gym floor • Competitive group at the beginning level of instruction and performance • Member of the Southeastern Color Guard Circuit (Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama) • Competitions held on Saturdays during January, February and March (we will attend 4-5 competitions) We will stay as local as possible with Elizabethtown and Russellville being the closest performances and Nashville area being the furthest away

  3. Who may join? • Students in grades 6-8 in the Hart County School District • No previous experience necessary (you will be taught everything you need to know)

  4. When and where do we practice, how do I get there and what do I need? • Rehearsals – complete calendar available at first practice • HCHS, Munfordville School, Memorial School, Munfordville First United Methodist Church • Students can ride the activity bus from their elementary to the high school and will be transported by bus to other cites as necessary from there • Parents may pick students up at the practice cite or students may ride the bus back to the high school for pick up • Practice dress - you will need comfortable clothes (shorts/ sweats/ t-shirts etc.) and tennis shoes; no blue jeans during rehearsals as they restrict movement

  5. What are the requirements? • Attend rehearsals and performances as scheduled • Pay or obtain sponsors for a total of $50.00 (this pays for uniform, t-shirt, equipment, travel, and other incidental expenses of the group – any sponsors of the group will have their name printed on the back of the t-shirt) • Complete both the permission and medical forms (must be on file to participate)

  6. What can parents do? • Parents are welcome at all practices and are encouraged to attend all performances • Parents are welcome to volunteer in any capacity they are able – we may need help with sewing, dressing students for performances (make-up and hair etc.), pulling the tarp on and off the floor, and supporting our students during performances

  7. When does it begin? • 3 Practices in December: 13th, 14th and 15th at HCHS from 3:15-5:00 • December 15th – PARENTS there will be an Informational meeting on the 15th of December beginning at 4:30 pm to answer any questions you may have • Link to Cadet Winter Guard Page • To access website: go to Hart County District page (www.hart.kyschools.us); click on teacher websites; select HCHS then select Carolyn Johnson; select Cadet Guard (Save this page for quick reference in the future)
