  3. fortuitous Definition Example • (adj) happening by chance or accident • syn: accidental; unexpected • ant: premeditated; intentional • My father said meeting my mother was fortuitous; my mother said it was fate.

  4. recapitulate Definition Example • (v) to summarize; to repeat briefly • Television newsmen always recapitulate Presidential news conferences, as if the audience were incapable of understanding what had been said.

  5. perfunctory Definition Example • (adj) done without care; in a routine fashion • syn: indifferent; offhand • ant: diligent; attentive • She greeted her guests in a perfunctory manner.
