ONLY USE ONE SIDE OF THE TABLE as your ECOSYSTEM Store the worksheet, the coyotes, and the rabbits on the side WITHOUT the tape markings.
BUNNY-PLACERS: Each group will start with three bunnies. Put one bunny on each piece of tape.
COYOTE-TOSSER (CT): You start out with one coyote. Toss it, trying to reach as many bunnies as possible.
Bunny AND Coyote-Tossers: YOUR COYOTE DIED, because it didn’t reach three bunnies. Take away the one coyote and one or two bunnies it killed. X
WRITERS: write down the… • Number of predators remaining • Number of prey remaining
WRITERS: calculate the… • Number of predators to be thrown on the table next • Number of prey to be thrown on the table next
BUNNY PEOPLE: make sure the right amount of bunnies are on the table. COYOTE PEOPLE: throw down a new coyote. Bunny AND Coyote People: Count the number of living bunnies and coyotes. WRITER: Record the new bunny and coyote numbers, then calculate the next generation’s numbers (the same way you did it the last time). WHEN YOU GET TO THE CHANGE COYOTE-TOSSERS AND WRITERS: Simply switch the coyote-tossers with the writers (make sure you help each other).
