  2. OBJECTIVE • The objective of this session is to obtain feedback from country teams on guidance provided in the manuals developed under this project • Country specific feedback will be the basis for revision of the Manual in 2009

  3. VOLUME I Manual on incorporating biodiversity into trade-related integrated assessments • Volume I is intended to provide practical step-by-step guidance on the process of integrated assessments and how to include biodiversity

  4. VOLUME I Presents the practical aspects of incorporating biodiversity into an integrated assessment, i.e. how to do it? Divides the assessment process into six stages: Describes for each STAGE • purpose and specific actions to be taken • important biodiversity considerations ACTION SHEETS are provided for more complex tasks where more detailed guidance is needed.

  5. VOLUME II Volume II is a reference document. • Explains in detail the importance of biodiversity and ecosystem services, and the complex linkages that exist between trade in the agriculture sector and biodiversity. • Provides a conceptual framework adapted from the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment. • Includes chapters on the relationship between agriculture and biodiversity, trade policy making, stakeholder participation, and valuation and other tools

  6. BIODIVERSITY ASSESSMENT MANUAL Manual ‘General Guidance on Assessment of Biodiversity’ • Developed by team of advisors after first international review meeting at request of country teams • A practical step-by-step guide focusing on biodiversity assessment • Identifies 10 concrete steps in addressing biodiversity
