  2. Overview: Regional Quitline Networks • What is the purpose of a regional quitline network? • Where do they exist? • What services do they offer? • What products do they make available to you? • How can you participate in a network?

Purpose of Regional Quitline Networks • Goal: Strengthen the quality & availability of QL services and the infrastructure that supports them • Disseminate and encourage adoption of best practices • Facilitate professional peer-to-peer networking and problem-solving (ie, shared learning and expertise) • Promote quitlines as an effective PH intervention • Link QLs with health care and tobacco control policy

  4. Existing Regional Networks • European Network of Quitlines • Established: 2001 • North American Quitline Consortium • Established: 2004 • Asian Pacific Quitline Network • Established: 2007

European Network of Quitlines (ENQ) • Website: www.enqonline.org • Organized under Quit UK, led by Chair • Members: EU countries (30) • Services: share expertise and experience; offer assistance to new QLs, disseminate research and good practices; support implementation of the ENQ Guide to best practices; collaborate with STIVORO on research with EU quitlines • Key Products: Guide to Best Practices, Guideline to Best Practices for Smoking Cessation Websites, Evaluation Tool for Smoking Cessation Websites • Funded by EU in association with European Network of Smoking Prevention, Pfizer Foundation and other foundations

Asian Pacific Quitline Network (APQN) • Website: under development • Organized as a network, led by Chair • Members: 9 Asian Pacific countries and California • Services: share expertise and experience; exchange and compare research outcomes; and support improvement of operations and services (workshop) • Key Products: 2007 and 2010 workshops, Practical Guidelines for Quitlines in the Asian Pacific Region, minimal dataset, country reports • Support: Member countries, NCI, WPRO/WHO

North American Quitline Consortium (NAQC) • Website: www.naquitline.org • Organized as nonprofit corporation, CEO, Board of Directors • Members: About 400 QL funders, operators, researchers and national organizations from North America (64 quitlines) • Services: shared learning and expertise (listserv and conferences); offer technical assistance and training (webinars and phone), research, policy work and communications • Key Products: Minimal Data Set (standard intake and follow-up questions), annual survey, standard measurements for reach and quit rates, benchmarking, best practice in call center metrics, recommendations on integrating medications in QLs • Funded by membership dues, grants and contracts

Global Quitline NetworkFor info: globalQLnetwork@naquitline.org • Purpose: Support dissemination of best practices, professional peer-to-peer networking and problem solving with a goal to strengthen the quality and availability of quitline services worldwide • Advisors: NAQC, ENQ, APQN, Alere, Global Bridges, Hollins Cancer Center, National Cancer Institute (US) • Funders: Pfizer Med Ed Group, Am. Cancer Society • Services for Public: One-stop shopping for tools and resources about QLs

Global Quitline Network For info: globalQLnetwork@naquitline.org • Services for GQN Members: • Access to in-depth training and technical assistance materials • GQN Listserv: peer-to-peer questions and answers • One-on-one e-technical assistance • GQN Blog: Respond to posts from staff on new resources, news and ideas • GQN Directory: Connect directly to peers and experts • Membership: Open to all QL and cessation professionals who are committed to the exchange of ideas and solutions to strengthen QLs and build a global shared-learning community. • Launch: November 15, 2011
