WHAT IS RAVENNA YOUNG ARTIST OFFICE AND WHAT ARE ITS MAIN TASKS AND ACTIVITIES? • 39 young artists officesspread all over the country • All Young Artists Offices are part of GAI network – the Young Italian Artists organizzation • GAI is an association created in order to support youth creativity through training, artistic promotion and research.

  3. GAI AIMS • Document all activities and to provide services, training and promotional opportunities for young people working in the fields of creativity, arts and entertainment.

RAVENNA YOUNG ARTIST OFFICE • Managed by Associazione Culturale Mirada. • Organizes trainings and promotional opportunities, initiatives and exhibitions related to the city area. • All young people who live, work or study in one of the municipalities of Ravenna province have access to the office services.

RAVENNA YOUNG ARTIST OFFICE THE GENERAL SERVICES • coaching on cultural professions; • support in the artistic design; • counseling on artistic books creation and curriculum vitae preparation; • assistance in filling in the applications to participate in art competitions; • data entry in the on line young artists database accessible by public institutions, museums, private galleries, curators and art professionals.

  11. RAVENNA YOUNG ARTIST OFFICE / SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES • R.A.M.Ravenna Artisti Mostre RAM is a biennial competition open to all young artists of Ravenna, organized since 1999 by Mirada Association on behalf of Ravenna Youth Politics Department.

  14. RAVENNA YOUNG ARTIST OFFICE / SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES • R.A.M.SELECTIONS AND WINNERS A committee of experts is encharged of the selection of young artists, young curators and art critics. The winners are then called to create specific projects for RAM on a theme set-out by the art committee. The works thus created are then presented in the second year in one or more exhibitions in the city area.

  15. RAVENNA YOUNG ARTIST OFFICE / SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES • R.A.M.ORIGINALITY Every selected artist is monitored and supported all through the working period by a curator until the final exibition. Therefore the competition offers so much more than an occasion of public visibility, putting each artist in a professional context.

RAVENNA YOUNG ARTIST OFFICE / SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES • R.A.M.CATALOGUE RAM publishes a collective catalog where each curator/ critic is responsible to write an essay on the work of the artist he has followed. The critical presentation of each artist in the catalog is another point of strength of the competition, because it gives to the artist the first curatorial credit.

RAVENNA YOUNG ARTIST OFFICE / SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES • R.A.M.EXHIBITION'S THEMES • 2006-2007 we identified the "village" as theme with specific reference to the former working-class district Anic of Ravenna; • 2008-2009 the theme was related to the sea and the coast of Ravenna; • 2010-2011 the theme is Ravenna Capital, subject related to the candidacy of Ravenna to the European Capital of Culture for year 2019.
