  2. Library Day! Bring All Books! Monday, January 23 Write the definitions for: • 1. Diction: word choice intended to convey a certain effect. • 2. Style: each writer’s distinctive use of language. • 3. Details: specific, descriptive information or facts in a literary work • 4. Figurative Language: words that describe one thing in terms of something else, not to be taken literally (ex. metaphor, understatement, imagery, hyperbole). • 5. Imagery: text that creates a mental picture and appeals to the five senses.
