“Historians in Training” ask the following questions: • Why do we study history and what can we learn from the past? • How does our American political and social system fit into our global society? • How are religions both unifying and divisive? • Why is it important to be globally aware?
Skills: • Seek patterns in history rather than viewing history as a group of isolated events, and recognize the interconnections of common themes • Express ideas clearly in writing and develop reading strategies • Develop and use research skills using the library electronic data base • Evaluate the validity of internet sources • Cite textual evidence from primary and secondary sources to support conclusions • Present research using MLA formatting
Policies • Homework is valued at 10% of the grade and is checked during the next class period after it has been assigned. • Most homework involves finishing study guides. • Students will lose one point for every day it is late. • Tests and papers are valued at 40% of students’ grades • Quizzes and projects are each worth 25%.
