Main Characters • To Add a picture • Click photo and click Delete • Click Insert – Clip Art • Type in keyword and search for picture • India Opal Buloni – young girl who feels lonely in the new town; misses her mama • Winn-Dixie – amazing dog that is able to bring people together; seems to understand exactly how Opal is feeling • Other characters include the preacher, Sweetie Pie Thomas, Miss Franny Block, Otis, Gloria Dump, Stevie and Dunlap Dewberry, and Amanda Wilkinson

Setting • To Add a picture • Click photo and click Delete • Click Insert – Clip Art • Type in keyword and search for picture • This story takes place in the small fictional town of Naomi, Florida. Opal and Winn-Dixie meet friends all over town, including the library, a pet shop, and people’s homes. • This story could be taking place right now or the not-so-distant past.

She feels almost like an orphan with her mama disappearing seven years ago and her daddy hidden away in his “turtle shell”. How will she ever feel like she belongs?

  6. Resolution • To Add a picture • Click photo and click Delete • Click Insert – Clip Art • Type in keyword and search for picture • Winn-Dixie helped Opal become friends with many people in town. He also helped give her the courage to talk to her daddy more about her mama. By the end of the story, Opal brought together all of her new friends for a celebration. She realized that she was loved by many and would never be lonely again!
