Connecting Communities: Basic Food Outreach Forum January 2014

Join us for the Basic Food Outreach Forum (BFOF) in January 2014, a collaborative platform for King County agencies engaged in the Basic Food (food stamps) program. This quarterly event allows professionals to meet, discuss, and strategize on enrollment issues while networking with peers and DSHS staff. Our agenda includes topics on working with seniors, meal programs, updates from DSHS, and community barriers to adequate nutrition. Basic Food Outreach Forum (BFOF) • This is a platform for King County agencies who enroll clients in the Basic Food (food stamps) program to meet and network • Discuss common issues and strategies to promote Basic Food enrollment. • We meet quarterly and partner with DSHS staff to bring you up to date information on Basic Food related topics.

  6. Working with Seniors: Icebreaker & Introductions • Break into groups of 5 • Take a couple minutes to for everyone to introduce themselves and share which organization you’re from. Take 10 minutes to discuss the following two topics: • What kind of challenges have you faced with getting seniors interested in Basic Food? • What barriers do you see in your community that keep seniors from accessing adequate nutrition? Select 3 key issues you identified together to share with the larger group
