  1. ESCAPE TO PARANOIAPHOTOS!

  2. I wanted to set up a room to look like a questioning room within a prison or mental institution consisting of the white walls, table and chairs. I put water on the table so that Jake could react to the water in a negative way to show his mind making parallels with drowning Rosie in water and now he is afraid of himself around water. The water also represents the questionning room as the suspect who is nervous or stressed would drink water in order to calm themselves. I edited these pictures to be in a black and white mode to emphasis the white walls from the table and chair. The black and white colours also symbolise the idea of wrong or right, lies and truth to suggest that either Jake is telling white lies or is memory is blank.

  3. I decided to put red (fake) blood on Jake’s hands to reflect the murder he has committed. This would symbolise the tragedy within and horror within the radio drama story to the audience. The sight of blood will give the audience a horror or thriller feel towards the radio drama. The large popularity of psychological thrillers (shutter island) to audience’s today may make them very interested in the radio drama. I edited this picture in order to create a stronger contrast in colours between Jake and his hands. Making his hands a brighter red colour will attract the audience due to the bright eye capturing red blood colour. Making his hands not in keeping with his smart suit creates contrast as he is not wearing a ripped bloody t-shirt which would further create a murder story feel to the radio drama for the audience.

  4. I wanted to show Jake as a middle class ordinary looking man. Putting him in a suit and making him seem like a business man suggests his wealth and middle class background to the audience making him seem well bought up and educated. This will make the audience question as to why he is so mentally disturbed.

  5. Here I wanted to show Jake reacting with the water as though it frightens him after being surrounded by miles of nothing but water on the island. In the first picture he is asking someone to remove the water and in the second he is trying to get away from the water.

  6. Here I wanted to show Jake’s actions were so horrific and traumatic for him to deal with he tries to dispose of them. This picture symbolises his memory loss as a picture of him and Rosie is burning as though it never happened.

  7. Here I wanted to show Rosie as though at her funeral. I used flowers to represent death and sorrow whilst the Rose is like her name. This will help the audience to know who she is.

  8. Putting Rosie on the table and Jake underneath suggests that Jake is putting a barrier between him and Rosie as he does not want to face or remember what he has done. This picture represents the end of the story and Jake finally facing what he has done.

  9. What Jake has done to Rosie is the cause of his memory loss. Therefore I wanted to show Rosie covering Jake’s eyes to reflect her being the reason for his memory loss. Jake does not know what to say as he does not remember. Therefore Rosie is covering his mouth as she is the reason he does not remember.

  10. Taking a quote from shutter island will hint to the audience the similarities between the film and my radio drama. This may interested them due to their love for the film or other psychological thrillers. Jake actually holding the sign himself suggests he knows he is crazy, which hints that he knows what he has done.
