  1. TIDContribution to project • Experience of designing & operating the BGP-4 routing infrastructure of different production networks • Feedback from the ‘real, tough world’ to assure • that things don’t get detached from it • that project results will be applicable in it • What data will we be allowed to measure? • What data can we get/measure without cooperation?

  2. Interdomain • Interdomain  BGP-4 • AS = organisational unit fits very well in our network • BGP-4 data collection policies have to be explored • BGP-4 and interdomain tools are real innovation • IGP and intradomain tools are known • no or little innovation

  3. Intermon topology tools requirements • Simple tools to collect real BGP-4 data • Explore where this tool can be deployed • Organisational collision • Benefits to the project • Having a real picture of network fluctuation will help the project validate the assumptions we make • Is the network stable enough to assume it is static? • Simple tools to inject BGP-4 information onto a testing infrastructure • Practical demos • There are tools to make a single PC simulate a whole AS (with routing, delays, losses, etc.) • We could inject routing, delay, etc. information into a simulation environment

  4. MRT Toolkit • Origin • http://www.mrtd.net • Highest reputation • Used by RIPE, CAIDA, et.al. • Simple tools which • collect and inject real BGP-4 routing updates • generate fake BGP-4 routing updates • Application • SW Integration • Inject a known pattern to test the InterMON platform • Practical demos • Inject routing information into a demo environment • No need to have access to the ‘real Internet’

  5. Exploitation plans • BGP-4 data collection in test & production environments • BGP-4 data presentation to be integrated in network management product portfolio
