Why do students seek counseling services? Some of the common concerns students present are: • Academic problems • Anxiety • Depression • Relationship concerns • Time management Issues • Family concerns • Uncertainty about the future • Sleeping Difficulties • Concentration Difficulties • Stress • Eating Concerns • Self-confidence issues
Who is eligible for counseling? A licensed counselor is available for short-termpersonal counseling (no more than 4-6 sessions) at no cost to CCGA students enrolled in 4 or more credit hours of study. If necessary, a student will be referred to a community resource for long-term counseling.
Confidentiality • All personal counseling is confidential. • No information is released to anyone without the student’s written consent. The only exception to this is when information is revealed that indicates potential harm to oneself or others. • The student’s counseling record is kept separate from their academic record and is destroyed 7 years after the last contact.
