Workforce Solutions is the operating system of the Gulf Coast Workforce Board • It is the public human resources organization that links employers to job candidates and individuals to jobs in the 13-county Houston-Galveston Gulf Coast region • Workforce Solutions helps employers meet their workforce needs and individuals build careers, so both can compete in the global economy

  3. Workforce Solutions is not a government agency • It partners with the Texas Workforce Commission and 27 other workforce boards in the state as part of the Texas Workforce Solutions network • This partnership includes participation in the largest job-matching database in the state – WorkInTexas.com

  4. Workforce Solutions does not charge individuals for its many job search and financial aid services, nor charge employers for its basic employer services • Workforce Solutions receives most of its funding from federal tax dollars that are redirected back to the region for these employment services

  5. CAREER OFFICES Workforce Solutions operates 25 career offices and four information centers in the following counties – Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Walker, Waller and Wharton

  6. JOB SEARCH SERVICES • Job listings and referrals • Resume assistance • Labor market information • Computer tutorials • Job search workshops • Career exploration and planning • Career guidance

  7. FINANCIAL AID SERVICES • Education and job training scholarships • Financial assistance for child care AND Free in-office use of computers, copiers, telephones and fax machines for job search.

  8. EMPLOYER SERVICE • Recruiting, screening, referring and testing of job applicants • Assistance posting job openings in WorkInTexas.com…at no cost • Career office hiring events • Job fairs • Outplacement assistance for company downsizing or restructuring

  9. UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE • Workforce Solutions assists individuals in filing their claims for unemployment insurance with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) • Only TWC handles these claims and benefits
