  5. Carbon • Symbol = C • ALL living things are made of CARBON • Helps to tell the age of rocks & fossils

  6. Nitrogen • Symbol = N • Found in muscle-building protein • And our Atmosphere (AIR)

  7. Oxygen • Symbol = O • Found in our AIR • And Earth’s crust

  8. Sodium • Symbol = Na • Found in SALTWATER • Earth’s crust • & salt we use on FOOD

  9. Chlorine • Symbol = Cl • Combines with Sodium to make salt found in ocean water (NaCl) • And in pools

  10. Silicon • Symbol = Si • Found in rocks, sand, and soil of Earth’s crust • Si+O=“silicates” Which are in rock- forming minerals

  11. Aluminum • Symbol = Al • Found in Earth’s crust • Used for making airplane parts
