  1. A BASKET STRAINER IS A TYPE OF FILTRATION DEVICE USED TO REMOVE UNWANTED SOLID PARTICLES FROM A LIQUID OR GAS FLOW. IT IS COMMONLY USED IN INDUSTRIAL AND COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS DOWNSTREAM PUMPS, FROM POTENTIAL DAMAGE CAUSED BY PARTICULATE MATTER. THE STRAINER CONSISTS OF A PERFORATED OR MESHED BASKET-SHAPED CHAMBER THAT TRAPS SOLID PARTICLES AS THE FLUID PASSES THROUGH IT. THE FLUID ENTERS THE STRAINER THROUGH AN INLET AND FLOWS THROUGH THE BASKET, LEAVING THE SOLID DEBRIS BEHIND. THE FILTERED LIQUID OR GAS THEN EXITS THROUGH THE STRAINER'S OUTLET. BASKET STRAINERS ARE AVAILABLE IN VARIOUS SIZES AND MATERIALS TO SUIT DIFFERENT RATES. THE BASKET ITSELF CAN BE MADE FROM MATERIALS LIKE STAINLESS STEEL, BRASS, OR PLASTIC, DEPENDING ON THE COMPATIBILITY WITH THE FLUID BEING FILTERED CONDITIONS. THE STRAINER MAY HAVE A COVER OR LID TO SECURE THE BASKET IN PLACE AND ALLOW FOR EASY REMOVAL AND CLEANING..
