Overview of Changes in Light Sport Aircraft Regulations: USA & New Zealand Perspectives

This seminar, held in August 2009, discusses significant changes in regulations surrounding Light Sport Aircraft (LSA). It compares the situations in the USA and New Zealand, examining pilot and aircraft numbers, sport pilot instructor qualifications, and the implications of E-LSA being classified as amateur-built. Key updates include acceptance of retractable landing gear and variable pitch props without cruise speed restrictions, while emphasizing day VFR operations. The seminar also highlights the response from the aviation industry and ongoing developments in New Zealand's aeronautical sector.
