  2. What to do in an Earthquake? Hernández Cuéllar Azahed Arturo

  3. Earthquakes are inevitables but damage caused by themis not. Many peoplethink thatthe destruction causedby earthquakes is inevitable, and our onlyoption isto lift the pieces afterthe shaking. No!The damage and lossescaused by earthquakes may be limited to steps you can take before,during andafter.

  4. Some also think that all the damage and injuries from earthquakes are caused by collapsed buildings. Not again! As the buildings are better designed, many of the losses during earthquakes are caused by objects that break or fall on people, causing injuries.

  5. Here I will show you some important safety measures you should take before, during and after the earthquake, for your protectionand theprotection of your family.

  6. Before the earthquake

  7. People and their families should know in advance the areas of internal and external security in their homes or offices.

  8. You should clean the edges of roofs blunt objects (pots, wood or other).

  9. Conduct an assessment of the structure of your home or office. Indicate your flight and safety zones.

  10. Have on hand a small kit, a flashlight and radio batteries.

  11. Have a small stock of canned food in force.

  12. During the shaking

  13. Go to the security zones* established.

  14. Stay away from windows and cornices.

  15. If possible avoid panic and try to stay calm.

  16. Not run in vehicular passageway.

  17. If you are driving stop your vehicle.

  18. If you're in a building does not use the elevator, the stairs always

  19. Attentive to children, the handicapped and the elderly

  20. After the earthquake

  21. Remember that when there is an earthquake of magnitude there are always aftershocks.

  22. Turn off the gas and electric system.

  23. Before re-entering your home or office, assess the damage to your property.

  24. Collaborates with the authorities.

  25. Be always the emergency numbers on hand.

  26. Always be in solidarity with the victims

  28. When a building collapses, the weight of the ceilings falling upon the objects or furniture crushing it, but there is an empty spacenext to them.

  29. That security area is called "triangle of life." The bigger, stronger and heavier the object, the less it will compact. The less the object compacts under the weight, the greater the gap or hole beside it, the greater the possibility that the person using that empty space will not be injured .
