Vision and Mission • North Springs Charter High School has a long tradition of academic excellence and a history of attracting talented, diverse students and teachers. • North Springs Charter High School is “A School of Higher Learning” where our focus is on Student Achievement for all students • North Springs Charter High School is a school community committed to providing Excellence, Equity and Excitement in Education.

Visual and Performing Arts Academy • Our Mission • To inspire and develop emerging arts patrons, arts critics, and arts professionals. • The VPA Academy includes elective courses for magnet and non magnet students. • Magnet students must take 8 VPA electives over • 4 years and classes include: • Band • Choral Music • Musical Theatre • Dance • Drama (Acting) • Technical Theatre • Orchestra • Visual Arts: • 9th grade art fundamentals • 2 D and 3 D design • drawing, printmaking, sculpture • Sophomore Josh Achiron is #1 in the US in jazz guitar • North Springs’ 2014 spring musical Ruthless garners 2 Shuler Hensley Award nominations and 4 honorable mentions

Math and Science Academy • Our Mission • Inspiring a lasting depth of knowledge in math and science through logic, research and applications. • All students must earn 4 core science units and 4 core math units over 4 years • Magnet students must take 4 additional math or science electives over 4 years • 9th grade courses include: • Earth systems or honors biology • CCGPS Coordinated Algebra or • Accelerated Coordinated Algebra

Career, Technical, Leadership Academy • Our Mission • Is to create leaders with an accomplished understanding of current business, industry, technology and service careers to equip them with the knowledge and skills for success in post-secondary academia, community and the global workforce. • The Academy offers elective classes and pathway certification for students completing a 3 course pathway ending with a work-based learning or internship opportunity • Program clusters and pathways  include: • Business Management  • Entrepreneurship Pathway • Information Technology • Web and Digital Design Pathway • Healthcare Science Career • Allied Health Pathway • Leadership JROTC Pathway • Arts, Audio-Visual Technology & Communications • Audio-Video, Technology & Film Pathway • Graphic Design Pathway • Human Services Career cluster- Food & Nutrition Pathway • 65 Health Occupation students sweep region competition in 2013; in 2014 - 13 HOSA students qualify for NATIONAL competition!

Guidance Tips for Success • 7 classes per semester • Grades can be accessed and viewed via Home Access • Final grades posted at the conclusion of each semester • Yearlong Course = 1.0 credits • One Semester Course = .5 credits • Grading Scale: • * A (90-100) • * B (80-89) • * C (70-79) • 7 additional points are added to a final grade higher than 70 in approved Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses

Guidance Tips for Success • CLASS of 2018: 26 credits required • English – 4 credits • Math – 4 credits • Science – 4 credits • Social Studies – 3 credits • CTE/World Language/Fine Arts* – 3 credits • *Note: 2 or 3 years of World Language credits may be required for college admission • Health/Personal Fitness – 1 credit (each .5) • Electives – 7 credits • Promotion /Retention Credits • 10th: 5 credits 11th: 12 credits 12th: 19 credits • Graduate: 26 credits to graduate

Lang (French, Spanish, Latin, Chinese) • Health- .5 / Personal Fitness-.5 • World Geo-.5 / Freshman Focus-.5 • Elective (If your child is in the Magnet program their schedule will be reflected according to their teacher recommendations and specific elective choices.) • If a student fails 1st or 2nd semester of a required course for graduation, then summer school is needed to earn course credit.

HOPE Scholarship RIGOR Requirements • HOPE Scholarship Program will average failing grades and passing grades in ALL core classes. • College Prep pathway students will need a 3.0 core GPA –(partial pay) • Vocational/Career Tech students will need a 3.2 core GPA • Honors points will be taken out for the HOPE average. Only Advanced Placement courses will carry additional points (5 on a 4.0 scale) toward the HOPE average. • Changes: • HOPE Wants to see Advanced classes in Math, Science, Lang. Arts , Social Studies and Language. This includes more AP and Honors courses . Zell Miller Scholarship 3.7+ GPA-
