  2. “Everyone Wins” Suspension Strategy • STEP 1 - GK finds out what his Council’s goal is to achieve Star Council, and the Council makes it as soon as possible. • Start really early like in JULY or AUGUST. • STEP 2 - GK works with his FS to see who he thinks needs to be suspended and have him draw up Intent to Suspend forms (Form1845) for those members. • GK do not sign or submit these forms yet. • STEP 3 - GK has the Council Retention Committee contact each of the members in arrears. • Every attempt to contact the member should be documented: date, time, message left, etc. • STEP 4 - GK verifies that the Council has officially met their membership goal. • DD can help you with this.

  3. “Everyone Wins” Suspension Strategy (continued) • STEP 5- GK attempts to contact any members that the Retention Committee could not contact. • State Retention Chairman can help you with this. Document contacts as in Step 3 above. • STEP 6- For every new member that the Council brings in beyond the Star Council goal, the GK signs and submits the Intent to Suspend form that is most delinquent. • This is done for the entire fraternal year (the GK may submit all of the Intent to Suspend forms at one time towards the end of the year making tracking these easier for the FS). • STEP 7 -After the GK is finished with his term he trains the new GK at this technique. • If every GK does this every year, the Council will catch up, have most everyone up to date on their dues, and have Star Council Plaques will decorate the entire Council meeting room.

  4. This method works because… • The Supreme Council makes their goal. • The State Deputy, District Deputy and Grand Knights all get a fair chance to do a good job in their position. • The Council gets their Star Award that they deserve for a year of hard work. • The member in arrears gets a chance to become a member in good standing again. • The new members are happy because they get to be part of a wonderful organization that will change their life forever.
