2. What am I researching? I am researching the crossbow. The crossbow is a bow set horizontally on a stock. The bow is fired by a taught string being released by a trigger.

3. Who Invented It? There are many reports proving different inventors of the crossbow. Some people say it was invented in China. Literary records show it was invented in China During the Warring States. I found one name which was Ch’in but every one says something different.

4. When was the crossbow invented? The crossbow was said to be invented in the Warring States period in the Kingdom of Chu. Its about 500 B.C. There are more earlier fossil records that show signs of the crossbow in 2,000 B.C. This is only in china where I believe it was invented.

5. Where was the crossbow invented? This was already answered in the previous slides. It was invented in China in the Kingdom of Chu.

6. Why was the crossbow invented? The crossbow was invented in place of the bow and arrow. It was to have more power, distance and accuracy then the bow and arrow and it made it easier during warfare.

7. How was the crossbow invented? The idea of the bow and arrow was already established and used but soon the thought of being able to pull a trigger to shoot the arrow was overwhelming. Most likely, some Chinese inventor thought up the idea to place the arrow on a stock and to have it be pushed up against a taught string, like a bow and arrow except it is held by a trigger device. The user would pull the trigger, releasing the string which shoots the arrow. This made it easier and more efficient to use.
