  2. Threatened Species • A threatened species may soon become endangered. • Examples include the Newell’s Townsend’s Shearwater and the Green Sea Turtle.

  3. Endangered Species • An endangered species may soon become extinct. • There are only a few of each endangered species left on earth. • Examples include Humpback whale, Hawaiian Stilt, and Hawaiian Monk Seal.

  4. Extinct • An extinct species is one that is no longer alive on earth. Extinction lasts forever. • Examples include the Bali Tiger and dodo.
