  1. Measurement by Mrs. Neubauer Essential Questions: How can estimation show that a measurement is reasonable? How does what we measure determine how we measure?

  2. Customary Units • You can use an inch ruler, yardstick, or tape measure to explore measuring length in customary units. • Customary units for measuring are inches, feet, and yards.

  3. Step 1 Step 1: Pick an object around the room that you would like to measure.

  4. Objects Around the Room • Step 2 Using customary units,estimate the length of your object.

  5. Actual Measurement • Step 3 Using your customary units, measure the actual length of your object!

  6. Measuring Length • Compare your estimates and actual measurements with a partner. Were you close in your estimations? Sharing
