Transitional Awareness

This research explores how embedded actors develop awareness of socio-technical systems as distinct entities for strategic change. Focusing on the concept of transitional awareness, the study identifies the contradictions and tensions faced by incumbent actors within established frameworks.   2. Transitional awareness Transitions are re-configurations of socio-technical systems by which societal functions are provided. The research question How do embeddedactors develop an awareness of these socio-technical systems as discrete objects of strategic change?

  3. Transitional awareness According to the dominatingevolutionary perspective of transition theoryincumbent actors - develop vested interests in the established socio-technical system • are cognitively embedded in the established socio-technical configuration.
