  5. An anchor chart is a hand-made poster or graphic representation that serves as a visual reminder of strategies, vocabulary, or other content that students have learned. What is an Anchor Chart?

Benefits of Anchor Charts… • Reference Source • Can be embedded into Math/Science/ELA/Social Studies journals • Serves as a reference material for students • English Language Learners: • Helps ELL to become independent learners • Supports ELL students in the development of Academic Vocabulary • Differentiated Learning Instruction • Aids the visual learner • Develop problem solving strategies and inquiry-based learning

  11. Kick Me!! Activity • Rule #1 – Nobody gets kicked during this activity!!!

  12. So what is it??? • Named for the “kick me” sign prank, there is NO kicking involved. • Students find answers to blanks on a worksheet by looking at the words that the teacher has put on students’ backs using labels. • This encourages movement in the lesson thus increasing focus, engagement, and retention of information.

  13. The Rules: #1 Find the answers to your worksheet on the backs of your classmates. #2 When you have them all, sit on your desk so that others can still see your label. #3 There is no kicking in “kick me”.
