  1. Important Tips to Prevent Bleeding Gums

  2. Bleeding Gums • Have you have moments when you are brushing your teeth and after spitting you notice some pink color on your spit? This may be an indication of minor gum bleeding. • In most instances we just shrug it off but if it happens on a regular basis you must take steps to remedy it and treat it as it may be already be a sign of gum disease.

  3. To help you do that, Here are Important Tips to prevent Bleeding Gums:

  4. Use The Right Toothbrush • If you are using medium or firm toothbrushes and you have sensitive teeth, that may be contributing to why you have bleeding gums. • The American Dental Association recommend that people use a toothbrush with soft bristles for at least 2 minutes twice a day and to replace toothbrushes every 3 to 4 months.

  5. Gargle With Salt Water • One of the best ways to prevent bleeding gums is to gargle with salt water. This is because salt can help reduce bacteria and stop gum bleeding. • Simple use half a teaspoon of salt, preferable sea salt to a glass of warm water and rinse your mouth for a few seconds three to four times a day. • This will keep your mouth clean and help remove bacteria.

  6. Manage Your Emotions and Stress Levels • Stress can be a major contributor to why you may have bleeding gums. According to a medical research, emotional stress has a negative impact on our immune system. Emotional stress can weaken the body’s defenses to the point where it can’t fight a gum infection which can cause bleeding gums.   • It is important to identify and avoid things or people that increases your stress levels. Find ways to relax and simply enjoy life. This will help you manage your stress levels and prevent bleeding gums.

  7. Try Oil Pulling • Try swishing extra virgin coconut oil in your mouth for up to 15 - 20 minutes, then spit it out. This will help whiten your teeth and improve oral health. • Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic medicine practice and according to some research, oil pulling is more effective than a placebo at controlling plaque levels in the mouth. • Coconut oil is one of the best oil to use since it has a lot of benefits and is anti-bacterial.

  8. Visit Your Dentist • If symptoms persists, a visit to your dentist is needed to help prevent bleeding gums as you may need a deep dental cleaning to remove plaque and tartar. • This will then help promote gum healing and prevent your gums from bleeding. • Regular dental visits can stop minor, early-stage gum disease from becoming more serious and help to make sure your oral health is in good condition.
