Orthodontic Treatment • Orthodontics is the study of dentistry that is concerned with the treatment of improper bites, and crooked teeth. • Orthodontic treatment can help fix the patient's teeth and set them in the right place. • It also deals with the control and modification of facial growth and this is termed as “DentofacialOrthopaedics".

  3. TYPES OF ORTHODONTIC TREAMENTS • Dental Braces • Orthodontic Retainers  • Invisalign

Dental Braces • Also known as orthodontic braces or braces. • Aligns and straightens teeth and helps to position them with regard to a person's bite, while also working to improve dental health. • Used to correct underbites, as well as malocclusions, overbites, cross bites, open bites, deep bites, crooked teeth, and various other flaws of the teeth and jaw. • Braces can be either cosmetic or structural and they assist in shaping the teeth and jaws.

Orthodontic Retainers • They are custom-made devices, made usually of wires or clear plastic, that hold teeth in position after surgery or any method of realigning teeth. • Most patients are required to wear their retainer(s) every night at first, with many also being directed to wear them during the day – at least initially. • There are four types of retainers typically: Hawley, Essix, Zendura, and Bonded (Fixed) retainers.

Invisalign • It’s an orthodontic treatment which uses a series of clear, removable teeth aligners. • The aligners are completely transparent, therefore far more difficult to detect than traditional wire and bracket braces. • This method is popular amongst adults who want to straighten their teeth without the look of traditional metal braces. • The aligners are marketed as being more comfortable than braces. Due to the removable nature of the device, food can be consumed without the encumbrance of metallic braces.
