This lesson focuses on optimizing images for web design by understanding the strengths and weaknesses of different image formats: GIF, JPG, and PNG. GIF supports only 256 colors and allows transparent backgrounds, resulting in the smallest file size. JPG can display over 16 million colors but lacks transparency, often leading to larger file sizes. PNG also supports more than 16 million colors and transparency, with variable file sizes. Complete your assignment by creating buttons and adding them to your HTML files for practice.
