Cautionary Notes and Caveats for PTF Data Utilization

This document outlines the important caveats and cautionary notes for users of PTF data. Several issues such as fogging, shutter malfunctions, and bad pixel clumps have been addressed. It also specifies problems like incorrect filter usage due to parallel keyword writing, bias jumps, and astrometric inaccuracies in crowded fields. Users are advised to refer to the PTF webpage for data release details and check the zeropoint reliability only on photometric nights. For any questions, please reach out to our team for assistance.

  7. Additional Cautionary Notes • Wrong filter due to keyword being written in parallel • Bias jump splitting CCD after camera restart • Astrometric Solution Inaccuracy in crowded fields • Catalog completeness • Zeropoints are reliable only on photometric nights. Also, note zeropoint variation maps (Ofek et al. 2012)
