  2. The 2nd training stage The project team at “Mihai Viteazul” Technical College in Oradea organized the 2nd conference To be or not to be a learning community, within the SGoLC international project on Thursday, 5th April 2012, in the Palladium Hall at the Continental Forum Hotel in Oradea.

  3. Training team and programme - prof. dr. econ. Ruben Filimon – opening and welcome speech - prof. Delia Mela – presented the SGoLC project and the Comenius Course in Verona - prof. Nadia Szuiogan – presented The major importance of strategic planning in a Learning Community - prof. MarinelaFilip – presented The Learning Community as seen from the perspective of the andragogical methods – concept and applicability - prof. FlorinaMusca – coordinated and set up the work – shop - prof. MirelaDuma - closing speech

  4. Trainees This training stage addresses to: heads of departments, head teachers, students counselors, vice principals, teacher trainers.

  5. Project presentation Mrs. Delia Mela presented: the SGolC project: and the Comenius Course in Verona: - partners, - course details, - aims and goals, - to whom is it addressed - its novelty - the scholarship - the concept of LC - contact information

The major importance of strategic planning in a Learning Community held by Mrs. Nadia Szuiogan with the following points: The key element of an efficient LC The skills necessary for a school leader to govern a LC How a LC should be governed Why the strategic planning isvery important in a Romanian school

  7. The Learning Community as seen from the perspective of the andragogical method – concept and applicability Mrs. MarinelaFilip presented in an open discussion with the trainees: - the concept and the seven features of a LC - examples of LC in our schools but on different levels: students, teachers or administration - defining features of a LC (the idea of a community, the need of learning and the end result) - complementary features of a LC (the membership, common interests, efficient relationship, collaboration, assertive communication, cognitive conflict recovery, learning from own experience and the experience of others, creativity, innovation, non-formal context and informal learning context)

  8. The workshop: application of the LC Mrs. FlorinaMusca set up and coordinated the workshop activity explaining the tasks for each group: to decide and mark down the answers to the following questions: Is it possible to create a LC in your school and why (what strengths do you have in your school)? What possible impediments would make its creation difficult (what weaknesses does your school have)?

  9. The workshop During the group activity the members of the team walked from one group to another and gave detailed instructions, suggestions or examples for the tasks.

  10. The workshop Writing down personal points of view regarding strengths and weaknesses of own schools in making them LC.

  11. Workshops results dissemination Each group presented their ideas and suggestions written on the flip chart. First group: “Vitejii” Second group: “The green”

  13. Reflection on the conference Mrs. Mirela Duma thanked the participants for attending this training course and asked them to fill in the questionnaires.
