  1. Easter 2007 Jesus died. Jesus arose from the dead! Jesus is Alive!

  2. Easter 2007 So What? How does Jesus’ death and resurrection effect your and my lives?

  3. Easter 2007 How does if effect my life here and now? How does it impact my dealing with sin?

  4. Easter 2007 We heard on Good Friday that we are all like sheep who have gone astray and God has forgiven our sins. We are all sinners. So let’s keep sinning. God will keep forgiving.

  5. Easter 2007 I have short fuse. And then I explode. O Well. God will forgive. I don’t need to deal with my sin of anger.

  6. Easter 2007 I have been overweight for so long. I have tried all sorts of diets. They don’t work for me. Why bother watching what I eat or exercising. This is my lot in life. I’m a prisoner.

  7. Easter 2007 Scripture Reading: Romans 6

  8. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome Let’s make this clear from the beginning: Confessing our sin and being forgiven does not mean that we become perfect and are never tempted again.

  9. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome Ask any recovering addict/sinner. There is forgiveness! There is victory! But it is one day at a time.

  10. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome Dealing with your particular sin-mix will be a life-long struggle.

  11. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome In response to this, many people have given up. They are defeated before they start. They see themselves as victims/prisoners.

  12. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome God’s Word has something to say to this victim mentality. Let’s look at Paul’s line of thinking in Romans 6.

  13. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome  1What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?Romans 6:1-2 We died to sin!

  14. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome We died to sin. 3Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

  15. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome 5If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection. 6For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— 7because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

  16. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome We have died with Christ. Therefore we are no longer slaves to sin. We have been freed from the tyranny of sin!

  17. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome  8Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. 10The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

  18. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome 11In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

  19. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome 13Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. 14For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.

  20. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome Satan is the father of lies: He lied to Adam and Eve. He lied to Jesus in the desert. He is lying to you today.

  21. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome Satan wants you to keep thinking like a victim, like a prisoner of sin. Satan wants to keep you thinking that he is your master, even though Christ defeated him.

  22. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome 11In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life;

  23. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome 1Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.  4You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. I John 4:1- 4

  24. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome … the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. I John 4:4.

  25. The 7 Sins of Highly Defective People - Overcome Ephesians 1:18-23 18I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, 20which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. 22And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
