  6. What…software do I use? • Beamer • Powerpoint (+ TeXPoint) • Keynote • …the blackboard? (Tip: Use an online LaTeX equation editor to paste formulas into a Powerpoint talk.)

  8. How…should I start writing? • What is the main idea you want to communicate? • What is exciting about that idea? • How much detail do you want to include?

  9. How…can I make it interesting? • Don’t put too much info on your slides • Tell stories • Keep the audience in suspense • Be enthusiastic!

  10. How…do I stop the audience falling asleep? • Some people will fall asleep – don’t take it personally! • Use multimedia and lots of pictures • Ask them questions • Music!

  11. How…should I prepare? • Do the talk for yourself or a friend • Check out the room & hardware • Back up your slides • Make some brief notes
