The TRAC Treatment and Research AIDS Centre has set ambitious national targets to improve access to antiretroviral therapy (ARV) in Rwanda, aiming for over 100,000 people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) by 2008. The TRACnet system is pivotal for achieving this goal, enabling the collection and analysis of relevant health data. By 2009, all 360 health centers will provide essential prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) and voluntary counseling and testing (VCT) services. TRACnet supports effective decision-making through its integrated databases and electronic medical records.

TRAC Treatment and Research AIDS Centre Health Management Information System – Technical support and information for the reduction of HIV/AIDS in Rwanda Word bank Videoconference 18th December, 2006
Targets • The national targets for accelerating access to ARV in Rwanda have been set and it is expected that, by end of 2006, the number of PLWHA accessing ARV will be approximately 33,000 and that this number will have increased to over 100,000 by end of 2008. • TRAC aims also to ensure that basic PMTCT and VCT services are available at all 360 heath centers in Rwanda by 2009. • To achieve these targets, TRAC was established the Routine Health Management System via its ICT& Applied Statistics Unit as describe on the schematic diagram bellow :
Solution and Key Capabilities • Rwanda TRACnet is a dynamic information technology solution designed to collect, store, retrieve, disseminate and facilitate the analysis of critical program, drug, and patient information related to HIV/AIDS.
TRAC Database, TRAC Gis, EMR • TRAC database is designed for data entry, data visualization and reporting for VCT, PMTCT indicators collected at the sites. • A geodatabase & mapping tool system (GIS) interface that displays health facilities offering HIV/AIDS services : VCT, PMTCT and ARV in order to facilitate the decision-making espicially on epidemic surveillance. • Electronic Medical Record under the first implementation for Rwanda. Possibility and flexibility of integration of the tool with TRACnet system. The interface is laid out in a coherent, simple and attractive way. The system allows users to enter detailed patient data, has several sorting/data organization functions. Shabani CISHAHAYO cishahayos@tracrwanda.org
