  1. An Overview of Queen Victoria's Life -Queen Victoria came into rule when England was agricultural and self contained -When she left England was modern and industrial.

Her Childhood -She was an only child -Her parents were Edward, Duke of Kent, and Princess Mary Louise Victoria of Saxe-ColburgSalfeld -Her father died when she just was 8 months old -Growing up, her mother kept her away from any influences other then herself -She wasn’t allowed to even have her own room; she slept in her mom’s room -Her education was carefully monitored by a German tutor -She wasn’t allowed to read newspapers or intellectually stimulating books -Her days were filled with language, religion, drawing, and singing lessons

Taking The Thrown -She found out her place in the succession when she was 11 years old -William IV died when Victoria was 18, which disappointed Victoria’s mother, who wanted to hold onto Victoria herself as long as possible -Victoria then became the new queen -Victoria immediately became really responsible and began to distance herself from her mother’s influence

  4. Her husband -In 1840 the queen married her first cousin, Prince Albert Saxe-Coburg Gotha -He was not only her husband but also her closest advisor. He helped complete her education.

  5. Her Children -In 1840 their first child Victoria was born (She late became the empress of Germany) -A year later they had Albert (who later became the Prince of Whales) -Then they had Edward VII -She went on to have 7 more children even though she didn’t like babies, pregnancy, or giving birth -However, her children helped out her country by connecting the British royal house with those of Germany, Russia, Greece, Denmark, and Romania, giving Britain a kind of parental status in Europe that would last in the next century.   6. Queen Victoria passed away in -In 1861 Albert died of typhoid fever -The queen was so devastated she disappeared from the public for 3 years -She then went on ruling and died in 1901, making such a mark on her time period it was later named after her
