Deployment in ExxonMobil Operating plants and research sites • Purchase in small quantities • Can accept some risk by maintaining existing sample system as backup • Able to test ideas, components Major projects • Large quantities purchased • Risk averse / use proven designs only • Can take most advantage of standard designs • Engineering cost savings • first duplicate design saves more than 50% of the engineering cost • Manufacturing cost savings • first duplicate construction saves 10-20% of labor due to repetitive tasks
Deployment in ExxonMobil Multiple sites using modular components today • Gas and liquid streams, up to diesel • Superior performance to traditional designs: easier maintenance, fewer leaks • Smaller surface area, less absorption effects • Faster reconfiguration to new processes A major project in Asia Pacific will have Gen I and proven Gen II technology • Will use modular technology on all streams where it has been shown to work at our plant sites (>95% of applications; >200 systems) • Will use Gen. II components and connectivity, assuming testing is successful Testing of Siemens Gen II systems is underway • Tests to be run on process streams, important applications • SAAI supplying these systems in support of project work • Testing of the modular sample system concept is complete at ExxonMobil: NeSSITM is a success • Current work is focused on migration to NeSSITM Generation II systems
Example: SeTS: NeSSITM-Enabled Gas Sampling H.P. N2 Line ( 150 psi ) To mix with BTX for dilution and flushing system Static Gas Mixer (1/4” SS) Oxygen Sensor (GE) Moisture Analyzer (GE) ( measures dew/ frost points over a range of -110 to +60 C) (-166 to +140 F ) • 4 Rails ( NeSSITM Stick ) Contain components to analyze gas mixtures • Mass Flow Controllers Control gas flows (0-1liter/min), (0-100sccm), ( 0-10sccm), (0-2sccm) • Temperature Probes • Sensor Ports Slide courtesy of Cornelius Brons (ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company)
