  2. Do Now • Answer the following in your notebook: • “If you were stuck on a deserted island, what five things would need to have in order to survive?” List your five items and explain why they are important for your survival.

  3. The way plants survive is through adaptations • Adaptation- a special feature that allow for a plant or animal to survive in a particular habitat or biome. • Compare and Contrast the following two plants. What type of habitat do they live in? How do you think they survive?

  4. Plants in different locations have different traits • Locations are better known as Biomes. • Biome- a region containing a major biotic community and that which is characterized by the predominant plant life and climate conditions.

  5. World is divided up into 7 Biomes • 1. Tropical Rainforest • 2. Grasslands • 3. Desert • 4. Temperate Deciduous Forest • 5. Temperate Rainforest • 6. Taiga • 7. Tundra

  6. Climate Factors • Latitude • Rainfall • Temperature • Seasonal Changes

  7. Plant Biome Poster Project • In your groups research your assigned biome and plant life using books, research and your group’s laptop • Create a poster to teach the rest of the class about your biome and how plants adapt to your biome.

  8. Gallery Walk • Look at the rest of the class’ posters and fill out your Biome Summary Chart • Spend 4 minutes at each poster, then rotate • When complete discuss the following question with your group. • If global warming continues to raise global temperatures, do you think the plants in your biome will be able to adapt? If so, what will they do to survive?
