Why is course selection important? • High School Graduation • Career/Life planning • Post-secondary Admissions …University, Community College, Private colleges, Work • University – 5 Academic grade 12s • NSCC – HS Diploma for most programs* *Some programs have specific entrance requirements. Always check!

  3. Graduation Requirements 18 credits required • 3 English • 2 Math • 2 Science • 1 Fine Arts – Art, Drama, Music, Dance • 1 Phys Ed – Phys Ed, PAL, Dance, Yoga • 2 Technology or additional Math or Science • 1 Canadian History – HIC11, HDC11F, ACS11, MKS10, GAL ST11 • 1 Global Studies 12 – Geography or History • maximum 7 Grade 10 coded credits • minimum 5 Grade 12 coded credits • (go to dal.ca & nscc.ca)

  4. French Immersion • Minimum of nine credits in French • Francais 10, 11, and 12 are compulsory • Grade 10: FRA10 F, SCI10F, ADR10F(drama), HIS10F • Grade 11: FRA11F, HDC11F (Canadian History),BIO11F, MVA11F (PAL) • Grade 12: FRA12F,EPG12F (Global Geography)

  5. Course Load • Grade 10s – 8 credits • Grade 11s - minimum 7 credits + 1 study block • Grade 12s - minimum 6 credits – 2 study blocks

  6. Selecting Co-op • Acceptance to Co-op is based on Application and Interview. • Select Co-op as one of your Elective Choices – if you are accepted it will be added to your selections.

  7. What Happens Now By the end of this class please complete the following: • Credit Check / Course Selection on paper • Course Selection in PowerSchool • Guidance Counsellor to check your draft pick of courses in PowerSchool • Take home your course selection sheet, review with parents, make changes if necessary on PowerSchool, until March 28 • Course changes after March 28 need to be made by meeting with your guidance counsellor • You will receive your course selection confirmation from Guidance in April or May

  8. PowerSchool • Log on to Citadel Network • Go to Citadel Home Page • Click on Power Parent/Student Portal (Top, Center) • Log in with username and password • To the left, click on Class Registration • To the right, click on pencil icon to see options • Make selection, hit ok. • Complete all sections (including alternates) • Hit submit
