  3. What is a Run-on? 2+ complete sentences run together as one. (mistakenly use a “,” instead of “;” or “.”) Confusing  don’t show where one idea begins and the other ends (DON’T COPY) Examples: Sea horses are actually fish they have gills and fins. Some sea horses are partially transparent, you might not see them in an aquarium.

  4. Two Types of Run-ons: A fused sentence= no punctuation between the two sentences. A comma splice= only a comma between the two sentences. (DON’T COPY) Which run-on below is which?   7. How do I fix a run-on? Do one of two things… Cut it apart Put an endmark at the end of the first sentence/ Capitalize the first word of the 2nd sentence Join it properly Use a comma and a coordinating conjunction Use a semicolon “;”
