  2. Purpose Analyze force vectors in several situations: Calculating the x- and y- components of forces (as done in the homework!) Measuring the x- and y- components using force sensors Note that this will be done for both static (acceleration = 0) and dynamic (non-zero acceleration) equilibrium situations Page 2 Department of Physics & Astronomy

  3. Theory Static Suspensions of Mass on Strings The force sensors must be aligned with the strings for proper force measurement As you did before, tare the force sensor! You will need to do this whenever you adjust the force sensor for different activities Page 3 Department of Physics & Astronomy

  4. Theory Dynamic Situations (Swinging Mass) The single force sensor placed so the photogate is directly below the it. The photogate should be placed in such a way that a swinging mass will go through, but not collide with, the photogate. At the bottom of its swing: Page 4 Department of Physics & Astronomy
