The ExCEEd Educator Training DVD series provides valuable teaching resources for faculty, especially adjuncts, who may not have access to in-person workshops. Developed by prominent civil and architectural engineering educators, Ronald W. Welch, Ph.D., P.E., and Allen C. Estes, Ph.D., P.E., these DVDs offer a streamlined way to enhance teaching capabilities while emphasizing that they complement, rather than replace, immersive training experiences. Why develop DVD’s • Not all faculty can attend a teaching workshop • Adjuncts normally receive limited to no training • Many adjuncts and students teach for us • DVD’s provide some training • DVD’s will not replace the full workshop experience • Best experience – ExCEEd graduate mentoring the users Department of Civil Engineering

Future Workshops • University of Texas at Tyler (10-15 July 2011) • United States Military Academy (24-29 July 2011) • Over 550 graduates at over 220 schools • Twelve years of success • This is an ASCE $2075 fellowship. ASCE subsidizes each participant • ExCEEd II coming again in 2012 Department of Civil Engineering

Advice for Applicants • Received 96 applications for 48 slots • Competitive • If not selected, reapply and update and improve application! • Make it clear that you applied previously • Application deadline is February 15th • Applicants must demonstrate they understand what the workshop is about and reflect on how it will help them • Department Head endorsement is critical!
