  4. feup: identity • our heart & soul: feup holds up to 7.000 students and 432 teachers distributed by 9 different departments: • Mechanical, Industrial, Civil, Electrical, Informatics, Materials and Metallurgy, Mining, Chemical Engineering and Physics.

  5. feup: education knowledge is our business: feup has adapted its courses to Bologna and currently offers a solid project of graduate and postgraduate education : 3 undergraduate courses (1st Cycle), 2 of which are in cooperation 9 integrated master in engineering (1st + 2nd Cyles) 8 MSc programmes (2nd Cycle) 18 PhD programmes (3rd Cycle)

  12. feup: going global pack your bags! International students Asia 4% Europe South America 34% 28% North America 4% Africa 30%

  13. feup: going global • feup has been a proud partner of several top, world class, education institutions to offer innovative postgraduate courses:

  14. feup: going global • Education: 150 active agreements in 52 countries • Research: 160 active partnerships in 43 countries FEUP is also member of CESAER - the Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research - a non-profit-making international association of 60 leading European Engineering Universities, Colleges and Schools.

  15. feup: going global ERASMUS MOBILITY

  16. feup: going global pack your bags! Mobility 2008/09

  17. ERASMUS MOBILITY2008/09 - By Country feup: going global

  18. feup: exchange students • INFORMATION: • erasmus@fe.up.pt • DEADLINES TO APPLY • There are two deadlines for the reception of the Application Forms (including Learning Agreement), concerning the starting period of studies: • - 1st semester (or whole Academic Year) – until 15th June • - 2nd semester – until 30th November

  19. feup: exchange students • PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE COURSE • The Faculty of Engineering organizes a free Portuguese language courses addressed to all foreign citizens who are going to study at this Faculty (mobility students, as ERASMUS, or regular foreign students at graduate and post-graduate level). • On the 1st semester, Level I and Level II • On the 2nd semester, only Level I • Number of places:  for each Level at the maximum 20 students • NOTE: In case of many applications, it will be given priority to the ERASMUS students. • Duration: 60 hours for each Level

  20. feup: exchange students • ACCOMMODATION – University Halls of Residence • The accommodation in the University Halls of Residence is not managed at Faculty level, but at central level, by the central International Office (SRI) for the (whole) University of Porto. • The SRI is responsible for managing the vacancies that are available for the exchange, but they are very scarce considering the needs arising from the increase of incoming flows. Requests are processed on a "first-come, first-served" basis, after their acceptance by the respective Faculty. • In the Application Form (page 4) the student can indicate if he wants to apply for a place at the University Halls of Residence.

  21. feup: exchange students • ACCOMMODATION – Private Rooms/Apartments • The International Office also seeks to provide students with information of accommodation at private houses, all over the city. To that purpose, the office manages an up-to-date database with contact details offering flats, houses and rooms for rent. Students may establish direct contact with several accommodation offers and therefore select the opportunities that suit them most. • FEUP Students’ Association – they have a list of private rooms/apartments and they help the students in the contacts with the landlords.

  22. feup: exchange students • INTEGRATION – Groups of students • ESN – Erasmus Student Network • http://esnporto.up.pt • BEST – Board of European Students of Technology • http://gnomo.fe.up.pt/~best/ • They designate a tutor for the ERASMUS students • FEUP Students’ Association • http://site.aefeup.pt/
