  1. Title: Forget Diamonds, Guns Are A Girl’s BFF URL: http://www.desantisholster.com/guns-are-a-girls-bff Keys: concealed carry, purse holster, pocket holster Summary: Abby gives it to you straight when it comes to girls and guns. Text: Forget Diamonds, Guns Are A Girl's BFF Don’t believe the hype, ladies. Diamonds? They’re NOT your best friend. Diamonds are sort of like that frenemy you ran with back in high school: they look pretty and flashy, but down deep, they’re kinda hard and slick. Know who your REAL best friend is? A gun for personal defense. Oh I understand that cold steel hidden in your waistband isn’t as sexy as flashing two carats on your finger. But it’s a lot more practical AND, at the end of the day, could save your life. Try stopping some guy trying to steal your purse with a diamond. Actually, bad idea; don’t do that. I’m not being hysterical here. I found facts, grim as they are, to back up my personal choice to purchase a firearm. For one thing, women stay single longer these days and are generally getting married later in life. That means we have to be more self-reliant, girls! Thanks to a lot of state budgets cuts, there’s fewer cops on the street. And you don’t want to be waiting on a 9-1-1 response with just your cell phone in your hand if an intruder’s already broken into your house. An emergency operator telling you to “Stay on the phone and stay calm” is a lot less comforting than a Smith and Wesson in your palm. The unfortunate fact is that women are too often the targets of crime. A third of all women worldwide have been the victims of some type violent crime. Think about that; that’s a big number! It’s the reason a lot of women are changing their minds about carrying a gun for personal defense. All women can wrap their heads around home defense; especially single moms. These women might find it less of a stretch to buy a shotgun for protection. But a concealed weapon – a small revolver or semi automatic is a lot easier to handle with a little firearms training. And because your weapon is small and compact, you can conceal carry pretty much anywhere (with the proper license of course!). A good purse holster or pocket holster ( I’m preferential to DeSantis Holsters of course) can be purchased for almost any handgun you buy. Try toting a shotgun in your purse or pocket! OK; don’t do that.

  2. Since women have woken up to personal defense, the statistics are changing for the better. It’s estimated that 200,000 times a year, women use a gun to protect themselves against sexual abuse. FBI statistics show that states which have adopted concealed carry laws have subsequently seen a reduction in violent crime. But let’s make something super clear: just because you have a gun doesn’t mean you always have to “use” it. The real purpose of carrying a gun is to use it as a deterrent. Each year, guns are 80 times MORE likely to protect a life than to take one. If you sense danger, four words will most likely stand down a potentially life-threatening situation: “I have a gun.” Utter that phrase and watch how quickly some low-life ne’er-do-well will turn and run. Three out of five felons surveyed (yeah, they have surveys for villains too) said they will NOT mess with a potential victim if they are armed with a gun. But hey, don’t take my word for it. Read up, assess the information, then make your own decision. I’ve included a few links for statistics quoted here. Diamonds are nice, but a gun makes an attacker think twice.
