Students were given the three questions below to respond to about their FUTURA experience. • 1 - What is one thing you learned from your FUTURA experience that you believe will help you later in life?2 - If you were to describe FUTURA to an alien, what would you say?3 - "I know what FUTURA technically stands for, but to me it really stands for..."

  3. “Definitely pursuing challenges. That will stick with me forever. FUTURA isn't exactly your average gifted and talented program. It's practically built on the idea of pursuing challenges.”

  4. “I learned how to connect to the real-world. I would say it's a creative place for people who think out of the box or who think differently. Fun, Unbelievable, Thinking, Universe, Real-life, Adventure.”

  5. “(Aliens? Really? What are the chances that they even speak English...) I would say it is completely different. Take everything about regular school and flush it out of your system. It is a creative and fun way of making kids realize their own values and others. It focuses on anything ranging from the government to the human body. From bridges to underwater explorers. FUTURA is RANDOM. That's my favorite part.”

  7. “One thing I learned from FUTURA that I think I will carry with me through my life is that you shouldn't wait for someone to tell you be creative or to go to "Infinity and Beyond". It is good and sometimes more fun to do more than the minimum. It's kind of like if you needed to score one goal to win a game, but instead you scored three. It's much better and WAY more fun.”

  8. Honestly, FUTURA changes your point of view. It makes you think things logically. But not just logically, but creatively. The "Revolution" is life. FUTURA prepares you for life. I kind of don't want to leave FUTURA.” • “I found the creative, hungry-for- info, "leader of the pack", and the what's the rest of the story sides of me in FUTURA.”

  9. “I would say to this alien about FUTURA that it is a fun class to stimulate your mind for many years to come. Maybe even your whole life. I would say that it can help you express the creative side to you that no one has ever seen before. It prepares you for the challenges in life and gives you several different ways to conquer them.”

  11. “Several things I learned from my FUTURA experience is producing quality work, managing time, collaborating with group mates, and reflecting. We need all of those later in our lives to get good grades on projects and get better at the skills.” • “To me it really stands for Further Understanding The Use of Real-life Applications. For example, this is creative and open, like almost everything else in the future life for children. You're not always going to have someone to guide you.”

  13. “I learned something that I will never forget. I learned to face challenges head on, and that I should not be afraid to express myself as an individual. If I were to describe FUTURA to an alien, I would tell him that it is a place where children go to learn how to solve problems as a group or by yourself, to find new ways to learn and explore, a place to be free. I know what FUTURA technically stands for but to me it stands for something special. It stands for a place of bright minds, hard work, and curiosity.”

  16. “I would describe F.U.T.U.R.A. to an alien by telling them that it's an educational, friendly, and extra learning experience that is so cool! You can make new friends from other schools and it gets you out of your home school for almost a day. There are activities (C.P.S., I.D.C., and C.S.I.) there, too! Project are more fun than regular school projects. You also get the best teachers you've ever had during this experience.“
