PCH Overview • Pilipinos (for) Community Health • Goal 1: Improve the physical, mental and social wellbeing of underserved, uninsured and largely Filipino communities of the Greater Los Angeles Area • Goal II: Provide basic health care, screenings and education for socioeconomically underserved community members whilst directing volunteers to engage and learn about these communities and gain hands on clinical experience • Goal III: Provide basic healthcare aid for those experiencing socioeconomic hardships in rural areas of the Philippines, such as Pampanga clinic, through our Medical Outreach Project and biennial Medical Outreach Banquet (MOB) • Goal IV: To provide undergraduate UCLA pre-health students with the resources and guidance that may help them in their career planning, academic achievement, and networking • Goal V: Publicize PCH to the UCLA student body as well as increase member retention

Member Relations: Active Membership • Active Membership Requirements • Volunteer for at least *EIGHT* hours • PCH Health Site (~4 Hours Each) • PCH Health Fair (1 shift = ~4 hours) • Senior Smiles volunteer(~1 hour sessions weekly) • Attend at least *THREE* general meetings/workshops/socials • Become a member of a PCH Barangay • Participate in at least *ONE* PCH fundraising/awareness effort through any of the following: • Raise funds for Medical Outreach Banquet with PCH Piggy Bank • Support/assist in a quarterly fundraiser for half an hour • Purchase PCH Apparal (e.g. T-shirt) • Assist in flyeringfor an upcoming health fair

Member Relations: Active Membership • Active Membership Caveats: • Active membership requirements does not rollover from any other previous quarter • General members must fulfill the previously mentioned requirements to become active for the current/next academic quarter. • Benefits of becoming an active member include: • Discounts at PCH events (i.e. socials, MOB, fundraisers) • Access to our new test/resource bank • Proof of active membership if ever asked by graduate schools • End-of-the-year certificate and prizes/incentives

Volunteer: Senior Smiles • Week 4 GM: Gerontology with Senior Smiles Director of Volunteer Gabriel Gomez • 1 Hour Weekly Commitment (Resident Journal Program) • Talent Exhibition/Showcase (~2-3 hours, Week 9) • Members will be trained to understand and recognize issues affecting the elderly such as dementia and physical weakness. • Volunteers will then meet with their “buddy” weekly and carry out creative, mind-stimulating, and fun activities that the residents would not experience otherwise.
