  3. 2020 Graduation Requirements • Health 0.5 credit • Language Arts 4.0 credits • English 1, English 2, English Electives • Mathematics 3.0 credits • Algebra, Geometry, Math Elective • Physical Education 1.0 credit • Science 3.0 credits • Physical Science, Life Science, Science Elective • Social Studies 3.5 credits • Civics, World History, United States History, Alaska History, U.S. Government • Electives 9.5 credits • Total Credits 24.5 credits

  4. 9th Grade Schedules • English – 1.0 credit • Read 180, English 1 or English 2 • Math – 1.0 credit • Intro Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry or • Algebra 2 • Science – 1.0 credit • Earth Science, Physical Science or Biology • Social Studies – .5 credit • Civics • Health – .5 credit • Physical Education – up to 1.0 credit • Sports Activities, Swimming, Weight Training, and Sports Conditioning • Electives – up to 3.5 credits • Includes selections in Science, Social Studies, Business, Fine Arts, World Language, Trade & Industry and Academic Support classes as required.

  5. Schedule Change Requests • The first few days of the fall semester, new students, students with incomplete schedules & seniors are given priority. • The 4th day of the semester, any student may submit a schedule change request form. Forms in the counseling office. • Students requesting a change into an elective from a core class or academic elective (i.e. band, world language) must have a parent sign the request form. • The schedule change timeline & process is the same in the spring. However, students may sign up on their counselor ‘s door anytime during the fall to request a spring schedule change. • This is also how students sign up to see their counselor for any other reason. Before school begins, students may e-mail schedule change requests to their counselor. Schedule changes are also accommodated during the first two weeks of each semester based on course availability.

  6. Alaska Performance Scholarship • Up to $4,755 a year to schools in Alaska • Based on GPA, ACT/SAT/WorkKeys scores • Must fill out FAFSA • Optional: Create an account on the Alaska Student Aide Portal (ASAP) • 2 ways to qualify: • 4 math, 4 science, 4 lang. arts, 4 social studies • 3 math, 3 science, 4 lang. arts, 4 social studies, 2 foreign lang. ***Not all core courses count for the APS! Check to make sure the classes you select will count if you are planning to qualify for the APS.
