This document discusses a pilot project conducted by Juan Castro at ITU to assess and improve web accessibility across its platforms from January to May 2008. The project aimed to analyze the accessibility of the ITU website and evaluate efforts to comply with WCAG 1.0 guidelines. It focused on key web pages in six languages and used tools like WAVE for accessibility validation. Outcomes revealed that while creating accessible web pages was feasible, it presented challenges due to limitations in the HTML editor and publishing system, especially for languages like Russian, Chinese, and Arabic.
