  1. Unidad 1Lección 1 -verbos con dos formas -personal a + noun/pronoun

  2. The following verbs only use 2 forms: (3rd person singular & 3rd person plural). Use these verbs to talk about what people like/love or what interests/bores/annoys them. This refers to both objects and infinitives (other verbs). Remember to ALWAYS look at the object/infinitive after the verb to figure out which form to use. These verbs are often used with me, te, le, nos, osandles.

  3. me = me/to me (it is NOT the same asyo) te = you/to you (it is NOT the same as tú)—familiar/singular le = he/she/to him/to her/you/to you (it is NOT the same as él, ella or usted)—formal/singular nos = us/to us (it is NOT the same as nosotros) os = you/to you (it is NOT the same as vosotros)—familiar/plural les = they/to them/you/to you (it is NOT the same as ellos, ellas or ustedes)--plural The above are object pronouns---these receive the action of the verb (and answers the question “who” or “what”). They DO NOT agree with the verb, even though they go IN FRONT of the verb!

  4. Another thing you need to know about two-form verbs deals with expressing actions along with a two-form verb. Use the singular formof the two-form verb followed by the infinitive of the second verb. For example: We loveto play soccer. Nos encantajugar al fútbol.

  5. Gustar—to like / to please gusta (+ sing. object / infinitive) Megustajugar al tenis. gustan (+ pl. object) No megustanlaspruebas.

  6. Interesar—to interest interesa (+ sing. object / infinitive) ¿Teinteresa la historia? ¿Teinteresabailar? interesan (+ pl. object) No leinteresanlasciencias.

  7. Encantar—to really, really like / to love / to enchant encanta (+ sing. object / infinitive) Nosencanta la música de rock. encantan (+ pl. object) ¿Leencantanlasnovelas?

  8. Aburrir—to bore aburre (+ sing. object / infinitive) Lesaburreestudiar. aburren (+ pl. object) ¿Quéteaburren?

  9. Molestar —to bother/annoy(this is a FALSE cognate) molesta (+ sing. object / infinitive) Memolestaestarenfermo. molestan (+ pl. object) Nosmolestannotasmalas.

  10. When you want to REALLY emphasize or identify the person that you are talking about, add a + noun/pronoun. There is one saying that goes along with each pronoun.

  11. We add these sayings to the beginning of each sentence to add extra emphasis. For example: I loveto play soccer. Amí me encantajugar al fútbol. Butyoulovetoplay baseball. Pero a ti te encantajugar al béisbol. Robert likestoread. A Roberto le gustaleer. ***You do NOT put subject pronouns (yo, tú, etc.) in front of the verbs!!***
